Marlene is a fully qualified, eight years experience, in Primary and Secondary Physical Education (PE) Teacher and Futsal Coach. As a former international Basketball and Futsal player sportswoman, Marlene is passionate to bring children into sports by teaching and coaching them. She’s comfortable teaching a diverse range of pupils and has experience teaching a full variety of students and coaching young football and futsal players from ages 5 to 19. She is enthusiastic to get involved with the education of children, both in the classroom and on the sports field.


Marlene Laundos was born on January 5, 1980 in Póvoa de Varzim, Portugal. At an early age, Marlene enjoyed basketball, athletics, volleyball and futsal—but once she was taught the game of basketball by her PE Teacher, her love for the sport only grew. From 1993 to 1998, Marlene competed as a point guard for the Clube Desportivo da Póvoa, her home town.  Over her high school career, she she became a internacional Basketball player. She became the point guard for the Portuguese Women’s U18 squad and helped the team performing at Euro Cup.

In 2000, Marlene enrolled Touguinhó Futsal Club, Vila do Conde, Portuguese Futsal team and earned a spot as the starting striker for the Portuguese Women’s U21 squad. Later on, her talent for Futsal grew in different clubs like Guilhabreu FC, Mindelo FC, Restauradores Avintenses and FC Vermoim where she finished her Futsal career.

Marlene was on the  Portuguese Women’s squad from 2001 till 2004.
